Olga Grotova is a Russian-British interdisciplinary artist. Her practice uncovers women\u2019s histories that have been erased from the established narratives. Grotova goes on the journeys to collect first-hand information from communities and families in order not to rely on male and power-centric \u201cofficial\u201d records. The artist begins the works in the darkroom and employs intricate camera-less processes to hand the agency over to plants, soils and objects closely intertwined with the lives of women. Grotovajuxtaposes problematic propaganda photographs from Soviet Russia with her images of the debris and the cast-offs that are akin to the female voices discarded within the patriarchal structures.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/section>\n\n\n\n
