On Saturday 12 July, on one of those luminous evenings that the Bassin d’Arcachon sprinkles with the most daunting of weather conditions, we opened a rare exhibition in the precious H\u00f4tel de la Ville d’Hiver.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/section>\n\n\n

As a tribute to the great painter from Bordeaux, Jean-Paul Alaux, the exhibition featured 12 prints devoted to the bay, accompanied – and this is where the rarity lies – by 12 Arcachon works by the Japanese photographer Lyu Hanabusa and 12 paintings by Max Ducos, who is well known in Bordeaux. 36 views, then, of the Bassin d’Arcachon, just as the Japanese artists Hokusai and Hiroshige did in the 19th century with their famous “series of 36 views of Mount Fuji”, which that evening was modestly and incomparably charmingly replaced by the Dune du Pyla.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/section>\n\n\n
