The Palais de Tokyo \u2013 of which the Louis Roederer Foundation is one of the most admiring benefactors \u2013 is presenting the first major Julio Le Parc exhibition in a very long time. It\u2019s an exciting rediscovery for some and a whole new discovery for others, and turns out to be rather special for Louis Roederer, too. For a number of years, the champagne firm has been creating advertising visuals, online films and even cases for its bottles that unbeknown to us, appear to draw their inspiration directly from this artist.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n\n\n <\/section>\n\n\n

Of course it goes without saying \u2013 and with none of the false modesty often characteristic of winegrowers \u2013 that it takes more than this \u201cfamily likeness\u201d to achieve such a degree of magic. With just a few lamps, steel plates, and pieces of fabric, Julio Le Parc was creating apparitions, playing with light, and devising optical illusions with incredible poetic force \u2013 well before the advent of computers and electronic animations.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n <\/div>\n\n \n <\/section>\n\n\n\n
