Promoting French creative
talent in the United States

Inaugurated in 2021, Villa Albertine represents the fourth Villa de la France outside the country after Villa Medici, Casa de Velázquez and Villa Kujoyama. Villa Albertine is a global support platform for French cultural creatives in the United States, offering residencies, grants, professional programmes, events and media resources.

At the heart of this scheme, the Louis Roederer Foundation decided to focus its support on promoting the arts through the Albertine Grants for theatre, dance and contemporary music. The grants offer a unique network for development and opportunities for recognition, and are a powerful statement for young contemporary artists: recognising their essential role in understanding the world.

When it comes to culture and artistic creativity, you have to be both innovative and long-term. Having a partner like the Louis Roederer Foundation providing support over several years gives us the means to think and innovate. And obviously, we are interested in nurturing this relationship thinking together about what we’re doing and having the Louis Roederer Foundation’s point of view. This is what makes the partnership both dynamic and creative.

Films on the Green
film festival

The Louis Roederer Foundation came up with the idea of creating a Californian edition of Films on the Green, in Los Angeles. This free, open-air festival of French films was already screening in parks in New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Boston and Houston. In collaboration with Villa Albertine, the Louis Roederer Foundation wanted to bring this project to the West Coast, to give everyone access to French cinema in the world’s film capital. The inauguration took place in July 2024 in the grounds of Hollyhock House, designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The first residence dedicated to food

Every year, Villa Albertine invites applications for exploratory residencies open to artists and professionals from a variety of fields.

In 2024, the Louis Roederer Foundation supported Corentin Poirier-Martinet, the first pastry chef chosen for a residency at Villa Albertine in San Francisco. Corentin Poirier-Martinet was an obvious choice. He is a demanding and inventive patisserie chef who values authentic terroir food and draws inspiration from other fields.

The Louis Roederer Foundation is a multi-disciplinary organisation, and supporting fine food – increasingly synonymous with art and creativity – represents an opportunity to support formidable talents in new artistic fields.
