Genesis

Audrey Bazin, artistic director of the Foundation, has imagined a unique partnership with the Philharmonie de Paris to create a music composition prize inspired by the opera training of Nicolas Glumineau, managing director of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, an exceptional oenologist and music lover.

For Nicolas Glumineau, the parallel between the composition of a great wine and that of a musical work is obvious: a dialogue between the interpretation of a heritage and pure creation. Pichon Comtesse, faithful to its motto “wine is a civilisation”, is extending its cultural commitment with the creation of an international music prize.

The Pichon Comtesse Award

This biennial music composition award aims to support young talents discovered with the help of the Centres Nationaux de Création Musicale (CNCM).

  • The first year, the Philharmonie de Paris collaborates with the Centres Nationaux de Création Musicale (CNCM) to identify and reveal promising talents, regardless of their artistic style. These artists each receive a commission for an original composition.
  • The following year, each original composition is performed at the Philharmonie de Paris during the EXPLORE festival, co-created with the Louis Roederer Foundation.
  • An international jury, made up of renowned figures from the world of music selected by the artistic director of the Louis Roederer Foundation, will choose one of the compositions. The winning work will receive a prize of €5,000 and will be performed at a concert at Château Pichon Comtesse in Pauillac on October 10, 2026.

First edition

In 2026, the commissioned works will be performed during the MUSIC PROMENADE concert on Monday April 13, 2026, as part of the EXPLORE festival, the first edition of which will take place at the Philharmonie de Paris thanks to the Foundation’s exclusive sponsorship.
