Subject:
A series of meetings on new approaches to conservation and the care given to collections of human remains in institutions, with the aim of highlighting and discussing professional practices in the broadest sense in the light of contemporary issues surrounding this unique heritage (conservation-restoration, management, preventive conservation in the context of exhibitions, transport, studies, excavations, etc.).
Key themes:
– Intergenerational, international and intercommunity panel. Willingness to give a voice to a wide variety of players and points of view.
– Inviting representatives from non-European institutions with links to the communities to take part in the discussions, and representatives from communities working within or in conjunction with heritage stakeholders (cultural groups, religious communities, etc.).
– Work on a dynamic and horizontal form of exchange, possibly led by specialist external speakers.
Format:
A two-day event with multiple dynamics (presentations and case studies, thematic workshops, round-table discussions) will bring together professionals from different countries who are confronted with these issues in order to encourage exchanges and the sharing of experiences. These meetings will be held in the Claude Levi-Strauss theatre at the Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac at the end of January 2026.
