Exhibition « Raymond Depardon, a sweet moment », Grand Palais

10/02/2014

Raymond Depardon granted an exclusive interview to the Louis Roederer Foundation during his exhibition ‘A Sweet Moment’ at the Grand Palais in Paris (from 14 November 2013 to 10 February 2014). This was a great honour for us, particularly as the Foundation—which is sponsoring the exhibition at the Grand Palais—had previously sponsored the exhibition ‘La France de Raymond Depardon’ at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France in 2010. Ever since, the Foundation has greatly admired the artist and held his work in high esteem.

During this interview, Raymond Depardon—with the habitual straightforwardness of a countryman—talks about the use of colour and black and white in his work, his life and fifty-year career as a photographer, his childhood, travels, and perception of the world. How has he maintained such a lucid view of the world, while being able to perceive and convey life’s sweeter side? This duality is unique to Depardon: while this interview does not entirely explain the enigma, it does shed new light on it.
