Courez au Palais de Tokyo !
29/07/2013
The Palais de Tokyo – of which the Louis Roederer Foundation is one of the most admiring benefactors – is presenting the first major Julio Le Parc exhibition in a very long time. It’s an exciting rediscovery for some and a whole new discovery for others, and turns out to be rather special for Louis Roederer, too. For a number of years, the champagne firm has been creating advertising visuals, online films and even cases for its bottles that unbeknown to us, appear to draw their inspiration directly from this artist.

Of course it goes without saying – and with none of the false modesty often characteristic of winegrowers – that it takes more than this “family likeness” to achieve such a degree of magic. With just a few lamps, steel plates, and pieces of fabric, Julio Le Parc was creating apparitions, playing with light, and devising optical illusions with incredible poetic force – well before the advent of computers and electronic animations.
