The Louis Roederer Foundation partners with Villa Albertine to support artistic grants and residencies in the United States

21/09/2023 – United States

Looking to strengthen its international commitment, the Louis Roederer Foundation joins the United States cultural sphere for the first time through an institutional partnership with Villa Albertine.

Launched in 2021, Villa Albertine is the fourth French ‘Villa’ abroad. As a global centre for French cultural actors in the United States, Villa Albertine offers exploratory residencies as well as grants, professional development programs, public events in 10 US cities – Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, and Washington, DC.

The Foundation will play an important role in supporting Albertine Grants, enabling new exchanges and visibility in the United States for French theatre companies in 2023, dance companies and choreographers in 2024, and musicians in 2025.

This year, the Louis Roederer Foundation has contributed to support French theatre companies through powered nearly 10 theatre projects in 2023, including: Anima by Noémie Goudal and Maëlle Poésy or Mailles by Dorothée Munyaneza.

In addition to Albertine Grants, the Foundation will also support one exploratory residency per year. It will start in 2024 with Corentin Poirier-Martinet, the first pastry chef selected for a Villa Albertine residency.

What convinced us to partner with Villa Albertine was its willingness and ability to rethink how institutions support artists and contemporary creation. Putting human relations back at the heart of projects, builds an ideal environment for lively and generous creation. It means reaching beyond borders – both geographical and artistic – with a humanist vision of what creation should be: an openness to the world and how we can better understand it.
