Zelda Samson wins the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award of the 61st Edition of La Semaine de la Critique in Cannes

For the fourth year, La Semaine de la Critique Jury presented the Louis Roederer Foundation Rising Star Award to Zelda Samson for her outstanding performance in Love according to Dalva, first Franco-Belgian feature film directed by Emmanuelle Nicot and presented as a world premiere in Cannes.

Propelled by precise and accurate editing, Emmanuelle Nicot’s mise-en-scène conveys the transformation of Dalva – wonderfully interpreted by the young French actress Zelda Samson – with great kindness and dexterity.
Synopsis
Although Dalva is 12, she dresses, wears make-up and lives like a woman. One evening, she’s suddenly taken away from a father’s house. Dumbfounded and outraged at first, she later meets Jayden, a social worker, and Samia, a teen with a temper. A new life seems to start for Dalva, that of a girl her age.
From the moment we started writing the script, Dalva’s age was impossible to define. Zelda Samson was perfect for the part, we fell head over heels.
